XIAMEN, China – Relatives of Ramon Credo and Sally Villanueva, 2 of the 2 Filipinos sentenced to death in China for drug trafficking, arrived in China on Sunday morning, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. Quoting a report from the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, the DFA said the families of the convicted “drug mules” arrived at the Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport at 10:53 a.m. They were accompanied by a case officer with the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA). Consul General Raul Hernandez, Consul Ambrosio Brian Enciso III, and other consulate officials met them at the airport. After their check-in at a hotel, Consul General Hernandez briefed the family members on the assistance that were extended by the consulate and the Philippine government to Credo and Villanueva after they were apprehended at the Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport in December 2008 and throughout the investigation and trial phases of their cases.
