OWWA to Help Family of Maid Found Dead in HK

The Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) will extend assistance to the family of a Filipina household service worker who was recently found dead in Hong Kong.

In a statement, OWWA Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon said the family of Rowena Gloria Gomez, who was an OWWA member, will receive death and burial benefits, as well as livelihood assistance.

The Hong Kong police report indicated that Gomez, a 34-year-old maid from Antipolo, Rizal, was found lifeless at the seashore near her employer’s house in Shau Kei Wan last February 5.

The case is still being investigated by the Hong Kong police. No official findings have been submitted as to the cause of her death. The release of autopsy report in Hong Kong is expected to take some months.
